YWCA Angeline’s Day Center
Angeline’s Day Center provides emergency shelter for women only in downtown Seattle. For several years, Soroptimist Seattle club members, friends, and other nearby club members have come together for a day of service at Angeline’s to serve lunch, engage in conversation, and assist with hands-on projects to improve the center.
Youthcare’s Bridge Continuum
Soroptimist Seattle has proudly awarded over $30,000 to this program which provides medical, mental health and trauma counseling, education, and support services for underage children, mostly girls, who have been involved in domestic trafficking and prostitution. Under the umbrella of YouthCare, this is a pioneering project in the Seattle/King County area and one of the first in the United States.
YWCA Girls First
Soroptimist Seattle has proudly donated funds to the YWCA's GirlsFirst youth development program for two years. This year-long intensive leadership program includes summer internships for young women to learn job skills. The mission of the program is "to encourage leadership, instill confidence, develop skills, and provide opportunities to young womxn of color."
For over ten years, Soroptimist Seattle has provided financial support to YouthCare, one of the only services for homeless young people in Seattle. YouthCare works to end youth homelessness and to ensure that young people are valued for who they are and empowered to achieve their potential.
